Outreach

Several different groups have benefitted from the presentations and courses supported by these projects. Scientists, students, and natural resource managers and planners have obtained a basic grounding in dendrochronology and dendroclimatology in regions where these disciplines were previously poorly understood. Representatives of institutions that had previously collaborated on projects supported by the US National Science Foundation and European Union have received the research findings in a form suitable to incorporate into their natural resource planning and management decisions. Students attending the presentations expanded their research horizons to include the consideration of long-term climate variability.
